fresh start
August 23rd, 2012 By Molly
When I was young, my family was transferred often, to several states around the Midwest. While some moves were harder than others, I often felt exhilarated by the idea of a fresh start, even as a kid. Starting over so many times in my early days was challenging though, and I wouldn’t wish the same for my children. But at the same time, I can’t deny that it prepared me to accept and navigate change in a really positive way. It also leaves me longing for an occasional fresh start; a new project, a new health plan, even, at times, a new house to make into a home.
For now, I’ll get my fix from the projects and health plans and from the inevitable fresh starts that life delivers along the way. A new school year is the best kind – lots to look forward to, lists to make and complete, goals to set and a different schedule to fit together like the perfect puzzle. I like it. And so it begins…
This year only… the Anderson kids will attend the same school together. How fun it was to ride our bikes yesterday morning and wish them each a Happy Year as they headed off to the kind of fascinating unknown to which I’m just a little bit addicted. What a thrill to see them dive in headfirst – running straight for the doors to their three amazing teachers (and onward towards the future!)
So excited to see what this year holds for my three favorite people!

I hope all three have a great year.
